Mark your calendars to join us on September 15th from 1-3 in Room 118 for a Bags for Beds session.  We are in great need for more beds for our homeless neighbors.  Please invite new crochetors.  Learn the story how this started and the difference it is making.  Come fellowship while being the hands and feet of Christ!  Bring any extra grocery bags you have or a crochet needle (12mm or bigger) if you are crochetting.  There is work for everyone whether it is cutting, tying, rolling the crochet balls or making the beds.  Thanks in advance for being a part of this!

The busyness of life has gotten the best of me.  As you can see, I haven't blogged in a while.  While we have had events to crochet beds, I haven't been as good at blogging it.  This, however, I feel compelled to blog.  Read on!

Yesterday a few students and I went under a bridge in downtown Indianapolis.  There are about 42 homeless friends living in tents under this bridge.  We spontaneously went because one of the homeless friends had personally requested some more of the bags for beds mats.  The weather is getting colder and this helps keep them warm.  They are not allowed to have fires under the bridge so their challenge is to stay warm.  We partnered with another ministry to provide food, pass out about 20 beds and be a part of a church service with them.

In front of me stood a guy that was pierced by the holy spirit with the word being spoken.  The more God's word was spoken, the greater the winds picked up.  It was as if Satan was trying to drown out hearing God's word but the sermon just got louder for everyone to hear.  This gentleman began to cry.  Then it happened.  "If anyone here would like to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, raise your hand".  He raised his hand.  Wow!

I had the opportunity to lay hands on John, pray over him, welcome him to the family of believers, and give him a hug.  It was great to see God wishes for no one to perish.  It was great for God to show up while we were there.  It was an awesome experience for the students and created a memory that will forever be etched in their mind.  Please pray for John.

Mark your calendar for 3/16/2011.  Bags for Beds will be holding an evening session to make crochet balls and to bring crocheters together.  I am pleased to announce we now have about a dozen crocheters!  Crocheters can't crochet without the crochet balls, however.  This means we need bags cut, tied, and rolled into balls to be distributed.  Thank God for each of you coming together to make a difference!  Thanks.

Your help is needed to crochet beds for the homeless. If you are interested in participating in this homeless outreach to support the Bags for Beds project, please bring a 10mm or larger crochet needle with you on February 16 from 7 - 8:30 pm in Room 118.  You can register at http://www.connectionpointechurch.org/story.aspx?storyid=932.

Saturday, January 22 at 7:00 a.m. we will meet at Connection Pointe Church to begin our journey downtown to hand out some crocheted beds.  We will be partnering with The Andy Project.  They will be filling other needs of the homeless such as clothing, food, and etc.  Hope you can attend!

This also means we will be depleting our bed supply and more beds are needed.  If you are crocheting a bed, please let us know!

Tell us if you are doing this project in your school, community, or organization!  We want to hear from you!  Post it here!

Do you know how to crochet?  Would you be interested in making beds for the homeless?  We need you.  Please contact us if you would like to obtain crochet balls to be a part of this growing outreach.

5:00 a.m. and I was awaken by the brisk cold air.  I couldn't get warm in my normally cozy bed because our furnace had gone out.  My daughter crawled in bed stating how cold it is which sparked conversation about what the homeless must go through.   Thank you, God, for this little reminder!

This Bags for Beds session was a success with 70 people that showed up to be the hands and feet of God!  Thank you.
